Pretzel

Kids can make shapes, letters, numbers, etc. out of this easy-to-make dough and when it is baked, the house smells wonderful. This dough is also good for pizza crust.

  • 1 pkg dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 c warm water
  • 1 t salt
  • 1 T sugar
  • 4 c flour
  • 1 egg white, beaten
  • extra salt

Preheat oven to 425°F. In a large non-metal bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add salt, sugar and flour. Knead on a floured surface (you can break it into small pieces for each kid to knead.) Dough can be played with for a long time. Then break off pieces on a cookie sheet that is greased or lined with foil. Brush pieces with egg and sprinkle with salt. Bake for 12-15 minutes.
